The swell rhythm combo
The Swell Rhythm Combo is a brand new band on the European jazz scene:
Jack Fire (upright bass/vocals) is renowned for his killer slap technique. His great playing is also heavily influenced by Slam Stewart and Milt Hinton;
Pat Louis (guitar/vocals) is the "missing link" between blues and jazz with a style marked by Freddie Green, Tiny Grimes, and legendary electric guitar pioneer Charlie Christian;
Druss Lecomte (piano/vocals) has a lively style that evokes Count Basie’s or Nat King Cole’s swing, Thomas “Fats” Waller’s and James P. Johnson’s stride, all with a touch of humor reminiscent of Erroll Garner. His rich boogie playing relies on subtlety and finesse, rather than the bombastic approach often associated with that genre.
The Swell Rhythm Combo combines swing, jive, hot jazz and rhythm ‘n blues, with a lineup similar to Cole’s trio, Basie’s rhythm section, or Willie Dixon’s Big Three Trio.

Le Swell Rhythm Combo est un tout nouveau groupe dans le paysage du jazz européen composé de:
Jack Fire (contrebasse et chant) avec un jeu très influencé par Slam Stewart et Milt Hinton mais aussi, au "slap" redoutable;
Pat Louis (guitare et chant) qui passe du blues au répertoire jazz avec un jeu marqué notamment par Freddie Green, Tiny Grimes et par le grand Charlie Christian;
Druss Lecomte (piano et chant) dont le jeu haut en couleur vous rappellera le swing de Count Basie et Nat King Cole, le stride de Thomas "Fats" Waller, James P. Johnson, l'humour d'Erroll Garner, sans omettre son jeu de boogie d'une richesse subtile plutôt que dans l'artillerie lourde auquel ce style est souvent soumis. Le Swell Rhythm Combo, c'est le swing et le jive du Nat King Cole Trio, de la section rythmique de Count Basie mais aussi, du Big Three Trio de Willie Dixon, tout ceci pour notre plus grand bonheur, "groove" méchamment!...

Druss Lecomte (piano/zang) doet je ongetwijfeld terugdenken aan Count Basie, Nat King Cole, en aan Thomas “Fats” Waller’s of James P. Johnson’s stride-pianostijl. Zijn speelstijl zit vol humor, in de traditie van Erroll Garner. In tegenstelling tot de bombastische aanpak die dikwijls met het genre geassocieerd wordt, zijn subtiliteit en finesse de ingrediënten van zijn boogiestijl.
